Vdp.Ortswein Riesling dry
Description:
The Riesling vom Red Slate is largely growing in the "Rothenpfad" plot, a steeplont oriented southeast in the area of the top location Marienburg. The floor is very light and is mainly made of very soft, weathered red tone slate. Some of the grapes also come from the nun garden location, which is located west below the Marienburg. Here, too, the red slate dominates (a parcel bears the traditional name "Rede Ader"), the floor is more mixed and a little heavier.
These two types complement each other optimally and therefore form the basis for the Riesling from the red slate since the 2003 vintage.
The grapes were harvested at the end of October, gently pressed and fermented spontaneously in the old oak barrel (fuder). In the cool basement, the fermentation often lasts until summer, the filling was only carried out in September 2021. The correspondingly long ripening period on the yeast gives our Riesling a great structure and a very good ripening potential.
